Creating a Sage log in

Monday, February 1st, 2010

This month’s tip is how to set up your Sage account or Payroll so that you can access the Sage website directly from the software. Sage have a wealth of information on their site and you will be able to download any updates with ease.

Firstly, if you have not already done so you, need to create yourself a Sage log in.  To do this you will need  your account number or serial number, then follow this link Sage Login.  Once you have created your log in you will need to activate it. Sage will send you an email.

Once you have created your log in you can now set this up in both yoScreen Shotur accounts and payroll (depending on your version).  To do this go into your software and along the top where it starts with file choose Tools then Internet Options. This should take you to a screen that says Sage Account. In payroll you will need to select it from the tabs along the top.

Now enter the email address and password and if you have it your account number. Click OK.

You are now ready to access the Sage website directly from your software. Further a long the top menus there is an option Weblinks. When you click this it will give you different options (depending o your version), just choose any that start with Sage and you will be taken to their site.

Sage50 voted most popular accounting software

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Sage is by far the most popular accounting software now being used by many small to medium sized businesses.  It’s versatility to manage accounts, VAT returns, invoicing, suppliers, customers, to integrate with ACT, and all within a pretty cost effective budget, makes it the ideal software for this purpose.

I often get asked what I think about Software Houses, who build their own accounting software packages, as to whether they can compare to Sage.  There are plenty of alternatives available.  However, it is important to look at the future of the company, the support offered and future upgrades.  It is easy to be caught out thinking that there may be a less expensive alternative.  Sage, however, is a well established company and continues to build a suite of business software around its business customers.
